This policy covers the MarkDe app for macOS. It is deliberately short, because MarkDe collects no personal information.
The short version
MarkDe does not collect personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Your documents stay on your Mac and in your own iCloud account. Zyncraft cannot see them.
Your documents
Documents you create or open stay where you put them — in the folders you choose on your Mac. MarkDe reads and writes files only when you open, save, import, or export them. It never transmits document contents to Zyncraft or to any third party.
iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync, MarkDe stores documents in your personal iCloud Drive container so they are available on your other Macs. That data moves between your devices and Apple under your own Apple Account, and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Zyncraft has no access to it, and sync is off until you enable it.
Settings and backups
Your preferences — theme, editor, and export choices — are stored locally on your Mac using the system preferences store. MarkDe also keeps up to ten recent versions of each document in its own sandboxed Application Support folder so you can recover from mistakes, and it records a list of recently opened files. All of this stays on your device, and the recent files list can be cleared from within the app.
Network access
MarkDe has no servers and makes no network requests of its own. The one exception is content you put in a document yourself: if your Markdown references a remote image, the preview loads that image from whichever server hosts it, exactly as a browser would. That request goes directly to that third party and never through Zyncraft. Documents with no remote references generate no network traffic at all.
Exporting and importing
Every conversion — PDF, HTML, RTF, DOCX, EPUB, LaTeX, PNG, and JPEG — runs entirely inside the app on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to a conversion service, and MarkDe does not require any external tool to be installed.
Children
MarkDe is a general-purpose writing tool suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes to this policy
If MarkDe's handling of your information ever changes, we will update this page and revise the date shown above. Because the app collects nothing today, any future change that introduced data collection would be described here before it shipped.
